Visit at Zoo Berlin

Today we visited Berlin's Zoo. With over 15.000 animals it is the riches in species worldwide.
We got a lot of impressions. Especially the aquarium house was amazing and the monkey house was so funny.

Furthermore, the weather was perfect. So, altogether a fantastic day.

Days off at the beach

We spent some days on the beautiful offshore island Usedom. We enjoyed the ubiquitous sun, sea and sand. Wandered miles on the beach and had a really nice time. Only the water was damned cold.

Moreover we watched our first drive-in movie - "She's out of my league". That was funny! We will definitely go to Usedom's beach once more, if only because it's just three houres from Berlin.

Olympiastadion Berlin

Today we visited Berlin's football stadium and watched the match Hertha BSC Berlin vs Borussia Dortmund. Although it was a home match for Hertha, the fans of Dortmund - including us - made an incredible atmosphere.

Unfortunately, Dortmund could not win the match. The final result was 0:0. But at least Hertha got one point for its relegation battle.

On Saturday is the next game. Dortmund vs Bremen. Hopefully we can win then!

The first beer in the sun!

After buying some fine cacao products at Fassbender&Rausch we saw this nice place where Augustiner Bräu was offered. Of course, we took a seat and ordered two glasses of this beer.

This was the first warm day of the year. At least here in Berlin.

Berlin at night

Actually, this picture is not taken at night but during daytime and shows one of europe's largest model railway system. Anyway, it shows Berlin, particularly Alexanderplatz with its TV tower. Furthermore the Regierungsviertel aswell as an airport are recreated.

Trains, trucks, cars and even traffic lights are computer controlled. Although I am not the biggest fan of mineatures, it was amazing to watch this urban life.

For Kalle, Alex and me it was at least more entertaining than watching the girls doing some shopping...

Whisky-Tasting

What a nice tasting this one was. The scotch islands!

1. The Arran Malt 12y
2. Isle of Jura
3. Caol Ila 10y
4. Bowmore Wanted - The Dead Mouse Eater
5. Ardbeg Corryvreckan
6. Classic of Isla

All of them very complex whiskys. It was a good choice not to take the car. The way back would have been quite challenging. No surprise after six samples of around 60% Vol....

Looking forward to the next tasting,
Thomas

Where are we going?

Well, it all seems to be fine at first sight...but if you look closer? I am in such a situation right now, that I am really happy to have a job and an apartment, but still it doesnt allow me to live my life.

I have a lot of fun at work and learn a lot, of course a lot of extra hours are added, so even if I normally have dream office hours (9:30 - 18:00) these are never realized. I come 1 or 2 hours earlier in the morning and stay about 1 or 2 hours longer in the evening. Not that I have a problem workning extra hours, but for 1600 € a month and no extra pay or free time for extra hours...12 h a day is not human. I cannot work my ass off and still not have anything to live from...But still I really enjoy the work - hard decision...( I must add that the probability that my salary will have a rise to more than 1800 € is most unlikely).

I dont know what to do, and it puts me in such a mood, that I dont want to do anything during the weekends. Doing something during the weeks is mostlz not possible, since I never know what time Ill get out of office =)

Well, well..I should be happy that Ive got a job at all. Thomas has also gotten his first interview and will go to Frankfurt to talk to PwC at the end of this month. Hopefully, everything will go well, its his dream to work for them.

If I just knew what to do in this situation...
